Job Description:
Position Summary Are you a detail-driven problem solver who
thrives in fast-paced, high-impact operational environments? The
Academic Classroom Scheduling Coordinator plays a central role in
ensuring the efficient and strategic use of instructional space at
San Diego State University. Supporting more than 30,000 students
and 1,700 faculty members, this position coordinates the production
and maintenance of the University’s published class schedules for
Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Working within the Office of the
Registrar, this role requires independent judgment, strong
analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex scheduling
systems in real time. From aligning classroom assignments with
enrollment demand to coordinating major campus events and final
exams, the Coordinator ensures academic and event scheduling
operations run accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with
university policy. Key Responsibilities Academic Scheduling
Operations: Plan, organize, and maintain the University’s Schedule
of Classes; assign general assignment classrooms; align seat
capacity with enrollment demand; and support real-time adjustments
during active registration cycles. Final Exam & Registration
Coordination: Oversee final exam scheduling logistics, manage
adjustments and group finals, and collaborate with campus partners
to address enrollment shifts and scheduling conflicts. Event &
Facilities Scheduling: Coordinate scheduling of campus events,
conferences, midterms, orientation programs, and large-scale
activities across shared classrooms, auditoriums, and field spaces
in accordance with university policies. Data Management & System
Integrity: Maintain accurate course catalog and section data in the
student information system; audit scheduling entries; support CRM
and Astra scheduling system updates; and ensure compliance with
curriculum approvals. Policy Implementation & Campus Collaboration:
Apply and enforce classroom scheduling guidelines, interpret
university policies, and maintain professional relationships with
colleges, departments, and campus service units. Reporting &
Training Support: Generate classroom utilization and inventory
reports; assist with data maintenance projects; and support

Position Information Full-time, benefits eligible,
permanent/probationary position. Position is designated non-exempt
under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU
work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may
vary based on operational needs. This position is approved for
partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego. Department
Summary Enrollment Services comprises Undergraduate and Graduate
Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services,
Out of State, Specialized and International Recruitment, Office of
Financial Aid, and Enrollment Services Communications. Enrollment
Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and
provides services to students from their initial point of interest
in SDSU to their graduation. The primary function of the Office of
the Registrar is to represent enrollment management programs and
provide enrollment services to various constituents across the
university in regard to the student academic record, academic class
scheduling, and student advising tools. The Office of the Registrar
provides service to the students through determination of
eligibility for admission to the University, evaluation of academic
records to determine the status of completion of degree
requirements, assistance with course registration, and advising on
the academic record in relation to transfer credit or CSU/SDSU
policy. The Office of the Registrar has three managers, two
assistant directors, and 40 staff of varying classifications across
four distinct units. The Evaluations and Academic Scheduling unit
within the Office of the Registrar brings together the information
and resources needed to strategically plan and provide support to
the Colleges for enrollment opportunities to meet student

Services, click here . Education and Experience Entry to this
classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill
in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability
to understand and operate in a variety of organizational
structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a
thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some
positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond
basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office
support technology systems and software packages is also a
prerequisite. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained
through a high school program, technical/ vocational program, or
their equivalents combined with several years of related office
work experience. Key Qualifications Experience coordinating complex
scheduling operations (e.g., academic schedules, events, or
multi-stakeholder environments) Experience analyzing data and
making real-time, data-informed decisions to solve operational
issues Experience working with enterprise systems (e.g., student
information systems, scheduling software, or databases) Experience
managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced,
high-volume environment Thorough knowledge of internal university
policy, procedure, and infrastructure is preferred. Thorough
knowledge of best practices in academic and events scheduling is
preferred. Compensation and Benefits San Diego State University
offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits

qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the
department’s budget and equity guidelines. Initial step placement
is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367) for highly qualified
candidates. Salary step placement for internal applicants will
follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. CSU
Classification Salary Range: $4,367– $6,362 per month (Step 1 –
Step 20). Future increases, including step advancements, are
