Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Vice President, Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Director, Compliance is responsible for monitoring and delivering compliance for ingredient, packaging and beverage regulations, to collaborate with legal, quality assurance, engineering, regulatory affairs and new product development departments to adhere to global laws and regulations of food and beverage safety. Provide ongoing education to the wider business teams in the area of developing regulatory rules / regulations and provide food and safety compliance assurance interpretation. Raise any and all concerns immediately that may affect the company globally in the area of regulatory compliance to senior decision-makers at all times. Essential Job Functions: Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure compliance to product regulatory demands and interpretations within the America's (North, Central, South America), Caribbean, Asia & South East Asia, Oceania, collectively referred to as the Rest Of the World (ROW). * Interface closely with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Flavour Partners, and New Product Development. * Provide support as needed to supply functions within the organization. * Ensure risk management processes are followed for all compliance activities to meet regulatory compliance. * Identify quality and regulatory challenges and changes, to ensure applicable requirements/adjustments occur in all product developments including products being sold within ROW countries. * Ensure that ROW quality and regulatory compliance meets company policy(ies) to avoid breaches, fines and regulatory sanctions. * Implement compliance monitoring, together with the wider Quality Assurance Department, at all flavor partners and ingredient suppliers and oversee the management of regulatory compliance issues. * Review new and existing products to manage compliance with ROW regulatory laws, regulations, and best practices. * Conduct internal reviews, including factual investigations, analysis and legal research, and identifying risks to the company and potential remedial solutions and alternatives in area of regulatory compliance. * Provide day to day support to legal, flavor partners and ingredient partners to address regulatory inquiries. * Offer continued education to all staff and team members in the area of regulatory compliance. * Maintain relationships on policy with local regulatory agencies, government officials and other policy constituencies as requested. * Develop and execute a ROW compliance strategy, which includes policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. * Perform regulatory compliance audits to evaluate compliance with applicable laws and regulations. * To build effective relationships with partners, customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers & internal stakeholders. * Communicate effectively to all levels of the business, including senior management, peers, colleagues, partners & direct reports. * Deputize as required for the regional VP & other QA Directors within the business. * Travel as required to support business needs, to build relationships, increase knowledge / compliance & to provide training. Position Requirements: Experience: * 10+ years of domestic and international regulatory/compliance experience in food science with food, beverage, dietary supplement or pharmaceutical preferred under the regulatory scope of the applicable ROW countries * Legal experience highly desired * Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal * Additional language skills preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese) Education, Certification, Licenses & Registrations Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Engineering or other related technical degree. Master's degree preferred. Skills: * Flexible, enthusiastic, hardworking & committed to a career in Quality Management * High level of personal integrity * Ability to provide both written and verbal communication to global levels within the organization as well as business, flavor and ingredient partners. * Highly organized and able to lead a small team within a fast-paced environment. * Result oriented, creative, and able to multitask. * Able to see what is relevant, prioritize and ask the right questions in the field of global regulatory compliance. * Strong project management, critical thinking and analytical skills. * Ability to work on own initiative and in a team * Ability to adapt to change * Willing to travel, work evenings & early mornings - as the job requires * Resilient and able to cope with the rigours of a demanding job Physical Demands: Light level of physical effort required for a variety of physical activities to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing or sitting at a workstation. Ability to talk and hear persons contacted on the job, able to lift and carrying up 25 lbs. objects occasionally, able to bend occasionally, able to twist body occasionally, able to ascend and descend ladders.
