We are currently searching for an exceptional Director, Custom Operations to join our team in Corona, CA.

The Director, Custom Operations will drive strategic initiatives and daily operations for product lines residing on Custom Ops, including our industry-leading, world class Fender and Specialty Custom Shops, Jackson and Gretsch USA, American Acoustasonic and Fender Artist and Mod Shops.
About the Job:


  • Provide leadership, people development and operational guidance to high performing teams
  • Work with Global Sales and Planning teams to deliver Custom Ops orders to customers in a predictable and reliable manner
  • Liaise with factory functions, Directors of Ops, Engineering, Planning and Quality for strategic growth initiatives and the integration of operational goals on Jackson USA, Gretsch and Acoustasonic product lines
  • Manage orders, capacity planning, talent development, labor resources and output/delivery on Masterbuilt, Teambuilt and instruments
  • Develop and communicate Operational KPIs daily, weekly and monthly to Corona factory leadership team
  • Drives standardization of Operational protocols alongside the Corona factory Directors of Operations for Electric Guitars and Amplifiers
  • Provide resources for training and development of luthier skills throughout the factory
  • Act as the key point of contact for day-to-day Custom Ops tasks for Corona Factory leadership and Fender Marketing, Sales, Product and R&D teams
  • Identify and implement process improvements based upon best-in-class guitar building practices that deliver high quality products efficiently and reliably
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shop floor employees, Masterbuilders, Factory Department Heads, External Partners, and vendors
  • Manage apprentice training program with factory HR Business partners
  • Uphold organization policies and standards, ensuring regulations are followed
  • Work closely with human resources to lead team with integrity, establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment

    What You Need:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or related field; or experience equivalent
    • 8+ years in a leadership role managing highly skilled craftsmen and craftswomen
    • 8-10 years of experience in leadership roles with demonstrated ability to lead through influence and by leadership example
    • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and labor management
    • Working knowledge of Safety and Environmental regulation, and Lean Manufacturing principles
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable
    • Guitar/bass player preferable, with intrinsic knowledge of guitars, guitar building processes and related guitar and amplifier components
    • Deep knowledge of the Fender Brand, its products and history
    • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes with keen understanding of the balance between guitar building skills/requirements and operational efficiency
    • Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands
    • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for increased productivity while maintaining high quality build process requirements
    • Masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by a track record of previous professional success in manufacturing, guitar manufacturing preferred
    • Excellent people skills with a focus on talent and culture development
    • Excellent organizational/project management skills as demonstrated by clear examples of successful outcomes
    • Excellent telephone/email communication and customer service skills
    • Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
