Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents.Our location in Temecula, CA, currently has an opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant.---- The primary function of Corporate Purchasing is to economically and efficiently process requisitions for the purchase of goods and services commensurate with Corporate policies and objectives while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. This position requires full understanding of the Purchasing Assistant responsibilities and utilizes more judgment and independence in the execution of their responsibilities. Provides high level of customer satisfaction. Works closely with Purchasing Agents in maximizing value on all Abbott purchases. Manages suppliers effectively. The Corporate Purchasing Assistant works on the definition and resolution of known problems in value, quality, feasibility, and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings and other value added activity to support customer needs and expectations. This position interfaces with suppliers and Abbott employees at levels up to and including Directors in the Corporate areas and business. WHAT YOU---LL DO---Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.---When using ETC - Responsible for contract progress billing, payment processing and knowledge of TRACER.---Prepare basic bid packages for review by agent. Distribute bid packages to suppliers and ensure timely return.---Demonstrates basic knowledge of the purchasing process (e.g., ETC, Purchasing policies and procedures, SAP, POPS (Mercury), and key suppliers).---Maintain supplier information in the SAP Vendor Master file, SMS, Mercury Order Entry systems, and the Contract Database.---Maintain STP (Specification Tracking Process) by loading core data, obtaining specification sign off from suppliers, and troubleshooting the ---no--- purchase decisions. (DIRECT ONLY).---Demonstrates knowledge of external guidelines (e.g., FDA, Customs, TSCA, USDA, PhRMA) to ensure compliance.---Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Gather and provide concise data to support issue resolution. Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and multitask to enhance productivity and manage workload. Possesses ability to work within team environment.---Responsible for purchasing the items used by all division's and specifically those routed to their buyer codes. Identifies, develops, and implements improved and standardized buying practices to ensure adequacy of supply chain.---Educates requisitions on the same. (e.g., --- Identifies the opportunity for contracts, directing orders to appropriate suppliers).---Develops and maintains necessary department files and records to maximize performance in completing job functions.---Review pricing structure to ensure the lowest overall cost and highest possible value for dollars spent. Identify and implement opportunities for Electronic Data Interchange (transmission, electronic funds transfer, etc.).---Review requisitions to maximize utilization of Diverse Suppliers.---Process paperwork for return of nonconforming materials per corporate guidelines (Ex: D-SAMs, NCMR---s, etc.). Expedite materials needed during resolution of nonconformance or as needed without agent assistance.---Coordinate the resolution of invoice discrepancies and freight questions. Resolve Accounts Payable issues by managing ---out of tolerance--- reports.---Work with Accounts Payable, suppliers, requisitions, and appropriate systems. Work with Transportation to resolve freight issues (Ex: choice of carrier and charge back decisions).---Maintain an up-to-date Desk Manual. Cross train with other Purchasing Assistants to ensure coverage.---Participate in quarterly compliance reviews.---Acts as an interface for suppliers. Encourages and develops positive relationships between divisions and key internal clients and strategic suppliers.---Identifies and elevates conflict to facilitate resolution. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU---LL BRINGRequired

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent plus 2+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination. Two-year degree or some college credits preferred
